Who We Are

    • I acknowledge that Ikigai Wellness provides therapeutic, non-sexual bodywork, stretching sessions, and private wellness experiences. In the event that a client must disrobe for a therapy, Ikigai Wellness will provide linens & blankets, & the client will be draped accordingly; the area will be re-draped, when the work is complete. Therapists will not be present in the room for changing & will not assist in the removal of clothing.

    • I am aware of the benefits & risks of receiving massage services. I understand that there is no implied or stated guarantee of success of effectiveness of individual techniques or series of appointments.

    • I acknowledge that massage therapy is not a substitute for medical care, examination, and diagnosis.

    • I have stated all medical conditions that I am aware of and will inform Ikigai Wellness LLC of any changes in my health status.

  • To provide you with the best therapeutic experience that we can, we ask that you respect your time, as much as ours, & our other clients time. All sessions will begin & end on time. If you are running behind, your session will still end at its designated end.

Cancellation Policy : You may reschedule your service, without consequence, outside of 48 hours. Rescheduling the same session, more than 3 times, may be subject to a 100% fee & termination of the client/therapist relationship. If you find another person to fill your time, cancellation fees will not apply. Special exceptions can be made for emergencies & illness, with notice. Please let us know as soon you are able.

    • Within 48 hours: Since the office space is reserved in advance, the cost of the room rental will be charged.

      • 60 min = $16.50

      • 90 min = $24.75

      • 120 min = $33

    • Within 24 hours: Cancelling within 24 hours will result in a 100% fee. Additionally, a No-call / No-show will result in a 100% fee.

    • More than three no-show appointments, without a valid excuse, may be subject to termination of the client.therapist relationship.

    • Choice

      • Let’s begin by reframing WHY you are coming to see us. We ask that you begin to tell yourself that you choose to receive our services because they make you feel better. Time again I hear in clinical settings, “I wouldn’t be here if I was feeling good.” You may see us because you are experiencing pain, limited motion, lots of stress, or any of a million reasons. The one reason you choose Ikigai Wellness LLC is because we improve the quality of your life.

    • Safety

      • Both client & therapist reserve the right to stop a service at any point, for any reason. Clients are encouraged to voice their comfort & discomfort, regarding pressure, movements, and techniques. It is important that clients feel comfortable & relaxed. Some techniques will bring you to the edge of tolerance; it is the clients responsibility to inform the therapist of their edge & the therapists responsibility to work around that edge, compassionately.

      • Areas that are sensitive or painful, before therapy, will be sensitive to work with. It is imperative to work within your level of comfort. We are not trying to produce pain, you are already feeling pain. Our goal is to help you deal with it, mindfully. As sensitive areas relax, they will become less sensitive, allowing for stronger pressure. Strong pressure or pain does not imply better technique or therapy. “Ouch” & pain are STOP words. In the event that you experience pain, we will stop, reevaluate, and adjust in order to keep you comfortable. Ikigai Wellness LLC does not support the “No Pain, No Gain” theory.

    • Relaxation

      • Ikigai Wellness LLC facilitates your innate ability to relax by focusing your breath, working in comfortable positions, & creating the environment to stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system. We can not make you relax; it is your ability to experience your life & breath, which helps facilitate relaxation.

    • Breathwork

      • Mindful breathing is one of the most important aspects of our service, as it is one of the quickest & easiest ways to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system. Breathing is intimately connected with emotions & stress responses. Always aim for the most relaxing feeling & sounding breath patterns. We encourage you to sigh & make noise.

        • First imagine one that is anxious, stressed, or angry. How do they breathe? Note the pace, the sounds, & any physical response. Next imagine one that is rested, relaxed, and calm. How is their breath different?

  • At Ikigai Wellness LLC, we firmly believe in the power of Ikigai to unlock the key to a fulfilled and meaningful life. At Ikigai Wellness, LLC, we are committed to providing quality services, detailed instructions, & current resources to help individuals live well.

  • I began my professional journey at ESU, with a background in Exercise Science, though formally graduating with B.S. Environmental Studies, in 2013. In 2014, I attended a Kripalu 200hr Yoga Teacher Training (YTT), brought my wellness experience to Americorps NCCC FEMA-corps, and returned to Kripalu to assist a 200hr YTT, in 2015. The combination of wellness & environmentalism enabled me to provide mindfulness & wellness experiences across California, while leading outdoor education groups, in Joshua Tree, Yosemite, Tahoe, & in northern NJ.

In 2017-2018, I studied massage therapy at the National Holistic Institute (NHI), in Emeryville, California. After graduating top of my class, I pursued a specialty in Nuad Bo-Rarn, Northern-style Thai Massage, in Chiang Mai, Thailand. After graduating the International Training Massage School (ITM) certified advanced practitioner & teacher training & instructing for a few weeks, I moved to Tucson, AZ & instructed Thai Massage at the Arizona School of Integrative Studies (ASIS).

During the Covid Pandemic, in 2020, I returned to NJ, to create my own massage practice. As of May 2026, Ikigai Wellness, LLC has officially relocating to Boulder, CO.

David Chernati

I am a Board Certified Massage Therapist & Health Educator, specializing in Naud Bo-Rarn (Thai Massage) & Myofascial Techniques. My techniques blend 13 years worth of experience in Kripalu Yoga Philosophy, Massage Principles, & Eastern Wellness Theory into a practice existing to support, encourage, & educate others on their own wellness journey — “with the right support & encouragement, everyone can live well.”

My approach to bodywork combines movement & palpation assessments, guided breath-work, neuromuscular connections, & a yoga-like awareness — "to know oneself, to the edge, in order to intuitively work with others."

——————————————————————

Currently, I am pursuing a career in Massage & Health Education, creating workshops & classes for professionals & casual learners.

One of my proudest accomplishments in my massage career is attending the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) National Convention as a reoccurring teacher’s assistant (2022, 2024, 2026), to renowned instructor Jill Burynski, of Living Sabai.
