FAQs

  • First, depth is not synonymous with force; just because one pushes harder, does not mean that it is inherently more therapeutic. In fact, more force, increases the risk of tissue damage & injury. Tissue is layered. The ability for a technique to relax superficial tissues & interact with deeper layers is “deep;” using neuromuscular techniques, to expand ones proprioceptive sense is deep.

Sensitive muscles may contract or “guard” against strong pressure. When clients guard against pressure, they are actively working against relaxation techniques. If you are looking for relaxing benefits, it is essential to work within tolerable limits & relax ones personal experience to the therapist; the service is for your benefit, make sure you are comfortable.

When excessive force is used, the giver may lose the ability to detect subtle changes in the tissue. It is important for the therapist to remain relaxed as well.
